Breast augmentation is a popular cosmetic surgery among Asian women who want to enhance their feminine appeal. As with any aesthetic surgical procedure, breast augmentation must be individually tailored to suit each patient’s needs, and enhance overall body contour.
Asian Breast Augmentation Procedure
Breast implant surgery is performed in the same way for Asian women as for women of any ethnicity. After anesthesia is administered, the surgeon:
- Makes an incision;
- Lifts the breast tissue;
- Creates a pocket for the implant;
- Places the implant in the pocket; and
- Closes the incision with sutures.
The implants are placed either under the pectoral muscles or over the pectoral muscles and under the breast tissue.
Several factors will determine where the implant is placed in relation to the muscle, including:
- Your anatomy;
- The type of implant; and
- The size of the implant.
Dr. Kahng uses the “No Touch” technique with the Keller Funnel when the implant is delivered into the pocket, avoiding the breast implant from ever touching the skin. Dr. Kahng also utilizes triple antibiotic saline irrigation and not betadine when irrigating the pocket. These techniques limit the risk of capsular contracture.
